Child marriage is a global issue. It is fueled by gender inequality, poverty, social norms and insecurity, and has devastating consequences in our society.
SECURE A GIRL'S FUTURE TODAY!
Having spotted that poverty is one of the many factors that contributes to child marriage, when families are experiencing acute poverty, families – and sometimes girls themselves – see marriage as a way to reduce family costs and gain financial security.
We came up with this initiative to create a sponsorship program to provide educational opportunity to the children of the poor that will see them through high school.
THE DANGERS ARE ENDLESS:
A girl who is married as a child is more likely to be out of school and not earn money and contribute to the community. She is more likely to experience domestic violence. She is more likely to have children when she is still a child. There are more chances of her dying due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
